DPS005 – Boze Man ” Joe & Tina”

Doppelschall Records follow up Dollkrauts “Loot” with another jewel from the Netherlands.
This time it’s the stunning debut EP of Rob Rolefes, who calls himself “Boze Man” and
creates music one could outline as cinematic jazz techno.

It can be said that the eastern part of the Netherlands is not really inspiring for the alternative music producer or DJ.
But growing up here, eventually encouraged Rob Rolefes to turn that into an asset.
With residencies in clubs that he would rather burn to the ground, Rob found a good way of earning money to invest into a studio.
So while DJ-ing was mainly a crowdpleasing business with the effort to play as much true music the crowd would accept,
the need to make something credible and exciting was fed by his musically immature crowds.
There just had to be some compensation. The ignorance of these crowds could only be taken as something inspiring as well.
With this, Rob had his testlab full of faithful guinea pigs to test relations between tones, moods and individual tracks.
Rob takes time to get his Boze Man tracks right. He believes that it’s best to make music from a listener’s point of view.
A good song is merely the result of a chain of good and personal decisions.
The best parts of a song are accidents which only a good listener can anticipate.
For his debut EP, Boze Man (translation: evil man) has asked German acoustic techno trio Brandt Brauer Frick
to do a cover version of the title track „Joe & Tina“.

Pumping Iron by Brandt Brauer Frick… And 1 and 2 and 3! Brandt Brauer Frick produce club music with self-recorded acoustic instruments (prepared piano, vibraphone, drums, various per- cussions, brass and string instruments), rhodes, bass guitar and few analogue synthesizers, as heard on their EP „Iron Man“ (incl. remixes by Lee Jones and Treplec) or at their great performance at Berghain last month. For THE GYM they have made two rather untypical house tracks, using more synths than they usually would, celebrating a more gymnastic dancefloor approach. Enjoy!

DPS 004 – Dollkraut “Loot”

Dollkraut aka Pascal Pinkert is back with another great EP after his previously successful release >Cheveux Noir< on Sound Architecture. Once again he shows his ability to produce a unique blend of house influenced by soul and jazz. Loaded with warm and analogue sounds paired with his intuition for solid vocals and sampling.

The remixes featured on this record are done by two swinging tag-teams. First of all the well known Krause Duo (Freude Am Tanzen / Musik Krause) with an edgy sharp jacking remix. On the B-Side Scott (The Gym / My Best Friend / Fluid Ounce) turn the downbeat track Precious Fool with their jazzy twist into a dancefloor anthem.

From his immersion into the electronic music world about fourteen years ago, Pascal Pinkert, also known as Dollkraut, has managed to keep his finger directly on the pulse of the house/techno community.
Growing up in the eastern part of Holland, Dollkraut was imbedded with a passion for high calibur music, being exposed to classic soul, jazz and funk.
After he got his first own computer, Dollkraut’s creative output blossomed into a hybrid of jazz, soul, minimal, techno, and classic house sounds. Shortly after that he got his first worldwide release called ‘Cheveux Noir’ on Music People Records which was an instant hit with support from major dj’s all over the globe.

Being on the circuit over the last few years means that Dollkraut has played at some of the coolest nights and venues all over the country including parties like Awakenings and places like Paradiso, Melkweg in Amsterdam. Dollkraut’s deep and diverse musical interest and knowledge is a result of his realisation that music is the highest expression of the human soul.
Now he is ready with a fresh release on Doppelschall Records. The 3-tracks Ep “Catch My Soul” is a great and interesting combination of deep grooving house and broken beat. Be sure that you cant resist to move your body when you listen to this dancefloor extravaganza!

Vakula was born in a small town Konotop in the times of the Soviet Union. His musical background is all about his grandfather who was a unique Banduras (native ukrainian music instrument) player. After moving to Moscow Vakula started to combine hard work and visiting night clubs. At that time he came to intension to share his music with the people. That’s when he decided to spent time learning to work with turntables. Vakula’s dj debut was in of the most interesting places – Propaganda Club in Moscow a true Mekka of House Music in Russia. In the following year he released a couple of records including “Hohol” with a remix by Lerosa which was released on UK label Uzuri and also “Night in Konotop City” on Quintessentials all following critical acclaim. Though belonging to the genre of house music the sound was really unexpected & unique. Now he comes up with his “Sun Down” Ep on Doppelschall Records. With 3 tracks loaded with uncompromising deepness. The EP brings to mind Moodymann aswell as Soulphiction or Lawrence. You can hear a strong Detroit influence and also the dust of Moscows Roads. With a very jazzy vibe this EP can get the crowd rocking with no doubt.

The first release on Doppelschall Records.The record gained wide attention from both the house and the broken beat scene. The original version combines very jazzy and acoustic minimal vibes in one track. The remix by Aroop Roy breaks the beat and adss a old-school flavoured house break. Douglas Greed brings it into a deeper and darker direction. This release is not availble on vinyl anymore but still digitally.
